Using perennials in your garden |
Perennials plant came from a wide variety of colors, shapes and sizes. It can be planted and left in ground to bloom for several seasons. This makes them less costly in terms of maintenance. Sufficient water, good soil and abundant sunshine are the things needed for the perennials to bloom for long seasons. It's the choice of gardeners because of easy work they are applying and pay only little attention and the ability of perennials to repeat it's blooming after each season.
There are some factors to consider since perennials stayed for ground for seasons, they are subject to diseases and insect's infestation than any plants. The gardeners must monitor on the signs of infestation and proper insecticides and control prevention can minimize or stop the spread of the disease.
The best way to avoid the disease is to take care of your plant have them check regularly of some infestation and having supply of insecticides and fungicides for your immediate use as when infestation occur. Some are signs for infestation: wilting leaves or holes in the leaves.
Every time the garden is weeded and watered, you must check for a sign of infestation this would be a good habit and proper monitoring technique. When watering perennials it is suggest doing the watering deeply and once a week and not spraying them more often and over-watered or standing water to leaves. This makes the plant vulnerable to fungal infections and other infestation. You are not required to water the plant during the heat of the day because it will cause tender foliage and flower burns. You must water the plant deeply and less than it requires. A good drip of irrigation system and soaker hose will help and will be a good choice for perennials growers. The advantage of working with perennials is their characteristic to grow every year. The important thing you must consider is the proper care after the current growing season ended. It must be pruned once a year .You must also consider its specific or exact requirement of each variety or particular plants as in regards to benefits from a radical and winter pruning or other needless pruning.
